Worcester is a city of hills and of houses with stories to tell. Three-deckers with stacked porches line the streets of Vernon Hill, Grafton Hill and Main South. Victorians and Colonial Revivals fill the older blocks on the West Side, and neighborhoods like Burncoat, Tatnuck and Greendale are full of mid-century capes, ranches and split-levels. Every one of those homes has windows and doors that eventually wear out.

Castle “The Window People” of Massachusetts replaces them with energy-efficient vinyl windows and new entry, patio sliding and storm doors. We’re based in Central Massachusetts, so Worcester is home turf for our dedicated install crew, and every project is backed by the Castle Lifetime Guarantee.

Why Worcester Homeowners Replace Their Windows

Worcester sits well inland and uphill from the coast, and winter here usually lets you know it. Wind comes across the hilltops, cold snaps last for days, and a drafty window turns the room behind it into the coldest spot in the house. In older homes, the signs are easy to spot: sashes painted shut, ropes and weights that stopped working decades ago, storm panels that rattle, and glass that frosts over on the inside.

Three-deckers bring their own challenges. Each floor usually has the same window layout, which means a lot of openings to keep sealed, and the upper floors take the brunt of the wind. Owners who live on one floor and rent the others often replace one unit at a time. We’re happy to plan a project that way. Newer homes have problems too: builder-grade windows from the 1980s and 1990s that fog between the panes or no longer lock tight.

Window Styles We Install in Worcester

We install vinyl windows only. Vinyl never needs scraping or painting, won’t rot or peel, and holds up to Central Mass winters. ENERGY STAR certified options are available depending on the package you choose.

Entry, Patio Sliding & Storm Doors

A three-decker can have several exterior doors, from the front entry to the back porch stairs, and every one of them is a place for cold air and water to get in. We replace worn doors with new steel entry doors, smooth-gliding patio sliding doors and storm doors that add a layer of protection and a screen for summer. Each door is measured to its opening and finished with fresh weatherstripping and a tight threshold.

How We Install

We start with a free in-home estimate. We measure every opening, check the condition of each frame, and walk you through your options with no pressure.

Most of our work is insert replacement. We remove the old sashes, set a new vinyl window into the existing frame, and keep your interior and exterior trim in place. That matters in older Worcester homes, where the original trim is often part of the charm. If an old frame is rotted or damaged, we’ll tell you and recommend a full-frame installation for that opening. Most jobs are finished in one day, and we clean up before we leave.

Serving Worcester and Nearby Towns

We work in every Worcester neighborhood and in the towns around the city, including Shrewsbury, Auburn, Holden, Leicester, Paxton, West Boylston, Boylston and Millbury, along with Grafton to the southeast. See every town in our Worcester County (Central MA) region, or browse all areas we serve.

Worcester Window Replacement FAQ

Do you replace windows in three-deckers?

Yes. We can do a whole building at once or one floor at a time, which works well when each unit is on its own schedule. We’ll help you plan the order.

Can you keep the original trim on my older home?

In most cases, yes. Most of our installs are inserts that keep your existing trim. We only recommend full-frame replacement when an old frame is damaged.

How long does the job take?

Most jobs finish in one day. Larger homes and multi-family buildings can take longer, and we’ll give you a clear schedule at your estimate.

What does the Castle Lifetime Guarantee cover?

Every window and door we install is backed by the Castle Lifetime Guarantee. We’ll go over the details with you during your free estimate.
